PRESIDENT DIRECTOR: Nancy Fanuka Korn. Nancy is a NYS licensed K-6 Common Branch Teacher, K-12 Reading Specialist, and School District Administrator, graduating from St. John's University and Stonybrook. She is trained in Applied Behavioral Analysis, Greenspan's Floortime, Sonrise, Alternative Communication Techniques, and the Wilson Reading System. Additionally, she is a practicing lay Homeopath. Nancy has dedicated her adult life to teaching students of all ages and abilities, firmly believing she was meant to be a teacher. Nancy is the proud mother of Lucas Korn, her inspiration for creating Homesteadability. Lucas was a much-wanted child, and since his birth and diagnosis, Nancy made the decision to leave her career and focus on his education full-time, beginning at just 19 months old when Lucas was diagnosed with autism. She managed his early intervention programs at home, training his service providers by integrating various educational best practices. When Lucas completed sixth grade, Nancy chose to withdraw him from public school, spending the next six years teaching him herself. At 17, Lucas suffered from a rare skull condition that resulted in the loss of sight in his right eye. After he recovered from surgery, she and her family moved to Florida, where she proudly awarded him his high school diploma in 2021. However, shortly after his graduation, she realized that options for post-secondary education, work programs, day programs, housing, and similar opportunities were extremely limited. In 2022, Nancy launched Farmsteadability, a hands-on food/cottage operation program for adults with special needs, supported by some amazing mother volunteers. This dream continued to grow, leading to the formation of HOMESTEADABILITY in 2025. The mission is to create a place where everyone has a future.
